Sisterhood

Sisterhood unites synagogue women! We provide numerous social functions for our members including dinners and exciting educational programs, which features a Z'Havah group to meet the needs of our younger women. In addition, the Sisterhood assists with financial support for many of our Temple events including Bazaar, gifts for Bar and Bat mitzvah children, and holiday packages for our college students through B'nao Sholom's College Commission. The Sisterhood also provides the funding for the High Holidays babysitting service.

Our main fundraising activities consist of NewYear's Greetings and Purim Baskets. Sisterhood purchased and provides maintenance for B'nai Sholom's cardiac defibrillator and oxygen tank. We also have donated new booklets for use during Purim services, obtained Festival Torah books, books with the Five Megillot for use during Festivals, and new prayer books that are used during minyans at mourners' homes during shiva. The Sisterhood supports the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City through the Torah Fund. The Youth Room is newly renovated and we donated the chairs, a Karaoke Machine and music. Recently, the Sisterhood purchased new computers and furniture for the B'nai Sholom Jewish Learning Center's computer lab. We've assumed funding of the new Jewish Art Music and Movement program for pre-schoolers.

Our Sisterhood continues to grow! We encourage all who have yet to join us to do so today. Our annual dues are only $25. Please email the Temple office or call Ellie in the Temple Office to join today. Please remember that a strong sisterhood means a strong synagogue!

UPCOMING 2011 SISTERHOOD EVENTS

March 31st, 7:00 - Sisterhood General Meeting and Wine Tasting. Reservations required.
Mah Jongg Game Night - Tuesday evenings from 7:30-10:00 in the Knesset Room. Light refreshments are served and you do not need to have your own Mah Jongg set. Beginners are welcome. Cost is $36. Reservations are required. Please contact Elaine either at eztennis@verizon.net or 678-3025.

Challah Baking Class with Fran - Once a month at 1 Irving. Space is limited and reservations are a must. Open slots for the April 6, May 4 and June 1 classes. Learn how to mix, kneed and braid challahs. Please reserve you place by contacting Lisa at lisakron@optonline.net or 978-8288.

SUNDAY MORNINGS in the YOUTH ROOM: ZUMBA 10-11. Classes are $10 each. To reserve please contact Alyce at 764-4459 or alyjef@aol.com.
